For this snowboard design I got inspired by the music and design style of the psychedelic 1960s. Poster artists at the time broke all the rules of conventional design to reflect the counter-culture scene, combining commercial printing and fine art.

 

I drew this digital illustration in Photoshop using halftone brushes to replicate traditional printing. I loved working in this style to highlight the social changes and revolutions of the 1960s which are still relevant.

 

As Prior is a local company in Whistler, I gave the design a British Columbia spin on the psychedelic themes of peace, love and consciousness. Featuring beautiful mountains and waves; summer flowers and winter snow-covered trees; and the sun and the moon overseeing all the fun outdoor activities.
