The Ridgeway is a long distance walking route from Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire to Avebury in Wiltshire. It follows prehistoric routes over high ground used by wanderers since forgotten times, travelling the woodland tracks of the Chilterns, and over the rolling chalk hills of the North Wessex Downs, past ancient earthworks.
 
The Wittenham Clumps are a pair of hills crowned with beech trees which stand out in the wide open landscape of Oxfordshire, rising up from the River Thames, with the smaller hill Brightwell Barrow nearby. Loved by Modernist English landscape artist Paul Nash: "this place has a compelling magic." Loved by locals who, having travelled far and wide, know that when we see the Clumps on the horizon, we are nearly home.
